Historic Fishermen’s Bunkhouse Transformed into Victorian Inn

The property that is now Doryman’s Oceanfront Inn began life in the early 1900s as a bunkhouse for the Dory Fishing Fleet — independent Newport Beach fishermen who sold their catch directly on shore. The current structure honors that heritage: during renovation the Victorian-style décor was added, including carved woodwork, fireplaces and vintage motifs. At the same time, modern comfort was introduced: rooms now offer air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and marble bathrooms. You’re not simply booking a room; you’re stepping into a refurbished part of coastal history, where the bones of the building reflect a working past and the design evokes a refined seaside retreat.
